So these are the flowers that were used to decorate my holiday hat. I think they are pretty much my own design, although as they are so simple someone somewhere has probably already thought of it. Nevertheless, I will share it with you anyway!
I have used an alluminium 4mm hook which produces quite small and tight flowers.
For the flowers:
Round Two: 11dc into the ring. Join with a sl st into the 2nd top loop.
For the little leaf:
1htr into next st, and tr st into the next 5 loops. Then we reverse to get the curve on the bottom of the leaf, so 1htr into the next loop followed by a dc into the final loop. This is one side of your leaf. For the next side, rotate your leaf but do NOT flip over!
Round Two: We are basically repeating the same stitches but up the other side, so 1dc, 1 htr, 5trs, 1htr, 1dc.
Now, you see that remaining stitch at the top there? Sl st into that, then we are doing a 2ch picot- so ch2, then sl st back into that top stitch to give the leave a nice point. Fasten off and sew in the end (down the middle is the best place to sew into as it helps give a ridge to emphasise the middle strip).
For the big leaf- it is basically an extended little leaf but I will do it with you anyway, just to make sure everything goes smoothly.
Round One: Ch 15. Insert hook 1 ch away and dc into st.
1htr into next st and tr st into the next 10 loops. 1htr into next st followed by a dc in the final loop.
Round Two: Remember, rotate don't flip! [1dc, 1 htr, 10 trs, 1 htr, 1dc] up the other side of the leaf.
Now for that finishing 2 ch picot- sl st into the top loop, ch 2, sl st back into the top loop to finish. Fasten off and sew in the ends.
If you have any issues or questions then don't hesitate to ask me. And if you do manage to make my little flowers/leaves, I would love to see what you do with them!!
